1. Acceptance of Terms
By using ExpenseBot ("Service") — including each time you log in to ExpenseBot with your Google account — you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
2. Gmail Integration
As part of our service, ExpenseBot can integrate with Gmail to automatically process expense-related emails. This integration is completely optional and permissions are only requested when you explicitly click on the "Process from Gmail" button. By using this feature, you grant ExpenseBot permission to:
3. Financial Account Integration (Plaid)
As part of our service, ExpenseBot can connect to your financial accounts through Plaid to automatically import and track expenses. This integration is completely optional. By connecting your financial accounts, you:
4. Use of the Service
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use of the Service by any third party.
Gmail Integration: When using the Gmail integration feature, you agree to only tag emails for processing that contain legitimate expense information and receipts. ExpenseBot will only scan emails specifically tagged for processing, not your entire inbox.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of any data you upload to the Service. However, by uploading, you grant ExpenseBot the right to use, modify, and display your content to provide the Service.
Email Content: You retain all ownership rights to your email content. We only process and display the content to provide our service to you. We never permanently store your email content on our servers.
6. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, if you violate these terms.
Gmail Access Termination: If you wish to terminate ExpenseBot's access to your Gmail account, you may do so at any time through your Google Account settings. Gmail integration is completely optional and we only process your emails when you explicitly request it by clicking the "Process from Gmail" button.
7. Changes to Terms
ExpenseBot reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ExpenseBot shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
9. Referral Program
ExpenseBot operates a referral program with the following terms:
9.1 Eligibility. Active paying ExpenseBot subscribers in good standing may participate. No self-referrals are permitted, and only one ExpenseBot account per person is permitted.
9.2 Qualified referral. A referral qualifies for commission when (a) the referred user signs up via your unique referral link within 90 days of clicking it, (b) becomes a paying subscriber to an ExpenseBot recurring subscription plan, and (c) does not refund or chargeback within 60 days of their first qualifying payment.
9.3 Commission. $20 USD per qualified referral.
9.4 Excluded purchases. One-time add-on purchases (including Pro Add-On and Deep Scan) and any other non-recurring purchases do not earn commission.
9.5 Approval & payout. Commissions are approved 60 days after the referred user's first qualifying payment, subject to no refund or chargeback during that window. Approved commissions are paid every six months (in approximately January and July) by PayPal, subject to a $50 USD minimum balance. Balances under the minimum carry forward to the next payout cycle.
9.6 Clawback. If a referred user's qualifying payment is refunded, charged back, or otherwise reversed after commission has been approved or paid, the corresponding commission is reversed and deducted from your next payout, or invoiced if no positive balance is available.
9.7 Taxes. You are responsible for any income or other tax owed on commissions earned through this program. ExpenseBot will issue an IRS Form 1099-NEC to United States referrers whose total commissions paid in a calendar year reach $600 USD, in accordance with applicable U.S. tax law.
9.8 Fraud & abuse. ExpenseBot may withhold, reverse, or void commissions, and suspend or terminate your participation in the referral program, in cases of fraud, self-referral, fake or sock-puppet accounts, paid-traffic incentivized signups in violation of FTC guidelines, or other abuse. Determinations are made in good faith at ExpenseBot's sole discretion.
9.9 Modification & termination. ExpenseBot may modify or end the referral program at any time with thirty (30) days' notice. Commissions earned but unpaid as of termination will be paid out on the next regular cadence, subject to the minimum balance and clawback provisions above.
9.10 No agency. Participation in the referral program does not create any employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture relationship between you and ExpenseBot.
9.11 Disputes. Any dispute arising from or relating to the referral program is governed by the same terms as ExpenseBot's main Terms of Service.
